Microfabrication Research Facility

Located in the Centre for Clinical Research building at the QEII Health Sciences Centre site of the Nova Scotia Health Authority, the Microfabrication Research Facility is a state of the art research facility specializing in the complete development of imaging system hardware and transducer development, among other varied applications.

Researchers at Dalhousie University, the Nova Scotia Health Authority and external parties are able to utilize the equipment and services located in the Microfabrication Research Facility under a fee-for-use agreement.

The fee-for-use agreement provides users with access and expertise to assist in the completion of their intended task.  Examples of equipment available include a Class 1000 Clean Room, a dicing saw, lapping machine, wire-bonder, sputtering machine / evaporator, parylene coater, fume hoods and other key laboratory equipment.  In general, the cost includes general Microfabrication lab usage fees in addition to modest fees for each piece of equipment utilized- consumables (such as lab solvents, photoresists, lapping slurries, dicing blades, parylene, and copper pellets) are included in the general user fees.  Specialty consumables would be subject to additional charges.
